Our History

Columbia PSI, LLC, a leader in advanced bagging and packaging solutions, has built its reputation on decades of innovation and strategic growth. Formed in 2021 through the acquisition of Packaging Systems International, Inc. by Columbia Machine, Inc., Columbia PSI has consistently expanded its capabilities to meet evolving customer needs.

A major milestone in Columbia PSI’s growth occurred in 2022 with the acquisition of Control Design & Manufacturing (CD&M), a recognized leader in factory automation based in Englewood, Colorado. Founded by Dale Kintgen, CD&M has been a cornerstone in the industry for over 30 years, specializing in the design and manufacturing of conventional bag palletizing systems, bag handling equipment, box forming and filling solutions, and control systems. Under Kintgen’s leadership, CD&M built a strong reputation for providing reliable equipment and unmatched customer support, making it a trusted name in the automation space.

As Kintgen approached retirement, the acquisition by Columbia PSI ensured that the company’s legacy would continue, with all employees retained to maintain operational continuity and customer commitment. The expertise and equipment from CD&M have greatly enhanced Columbia PSI’s product portfolio, allowing the combined entity to offer an even broader range of solutions to clients worldwide.

With this acquisition, Columbia PSI has reinforced its presence in Denver, CO, and expanded its manufacturing capabilities. The integration of CD&M’s decades of experience complements Columbia PSI’s existing bagging product lines, creating a comprehensive suite of solutions for customers in over 100 countries. The company’s enhanced Denver facility now works in synergy with Columbia’s other North American locations in Vancouver, WA; Ontario, CA; Orlando, FL; Smithsburg, MA; and Mississauga, Canada, ensuring world-class service and manufacturing support.

Columbia PSI remains dedicated to its long-term strategy of innovation, expanding its operations and maintaining a customer-first focus. With a growing team and a strengthened product lineup, Columbia PSI continues to lead the industry in bagging and packaging solutions.
